Leander, Texas, has been my home for the past sixteen years. I love Leander. I wanted to share with you the top four things I love about Leander.
1. Location
Looking at the map...Leander is a quirky odd shaped city. Interstate 183 runs up the heart of Leander and 183A is the sister highway with toll access. It is the toll road that has opened Leander up for more business and economic growth. We went from a population of 27,000 in 2010 to roughly 82,000 in 2022. Pro Tip: Set your Waze to not travel the toll road. This can save you hundreds of dollars a month.
2. Metro Rail
Leander is the last (or first) stop, depending on your perspective, along the metro rail. You can ride the rail into downtown Austin or make a stop in the Domain area. regardless of your reason, Metrorail is a great way to travel.
3. School District
Leander is the second-ranked school district in all of the Austin area. Leander has lots of highly rated schools and then a lot of new schools still trying to get their ratings up. Leander is building a school a year right now to try and keep up with population growth....and schools anchor home value.
4. Notable Projects
Leander is one of the top five fastest-growing cities in the nation. In 2021, Homes.com lists Leander as one of the best suburbs to live in. Along with that growth are key notable projects. One of those projects is a 4-acre man-made crystal clear lagoon called Leander Springs. This mixed-use development is going to be super interesting to watch. The other buzz project is Northline. It is being billed as a new state-of-the-art downtown for Leander. This is a phased development project over 115 acres of mixed-use space.
Leander is a relocation haven full of diverse community members. We have wonderful master-planned communities:
- CrystalFalls - Massive ten communities in one. 2.39% tax rate. HOA $77 per month. Randall's grocery store is located right outside the neighborhood. Hill country views. Amazing amenity center. A roughly 30-minute drive into Austin. Houses range from $500,000 - $2.5M.
- Bryson - Hill country views. Signified by the old-style red truck. Lots of planned community activities, 2.71% tax rate. Located in a Municipal Utility District. Houses range from $500,000 - $1.5M. HOA dues are $75/month.
- Deerbrooke - Luxury single-family homes. Located in the heart of the city. Part of a Public Improvement District (PID). 2.542% tax rate. HOA dues $50/month.
Leander is a beautiful place to live and play. In fact, make sure to look up Leander Date Night on your next visit. We love to meet new friends!!!
