Welcome to my blog!  Today, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my journey filled with love, purpose, and the joys of life. My name is Melissa Boyd, and over the years, I have cultivated a deep appreciation for community, nature, and living life! From my volunteering at a dog rescue to my passion for gardening and travel, let me take you on a journey through the various parts of my life. 

Volunteering for a Dog Rescue: One of the most fulfilling aspects of my life is my involvement with Austin Boxer Rescue. For several years, I have dedicated time, energy, and lots of miles on my car to help rescue as many dogs as possible.  Witnessing their transformation and finding them loving forever homes brings immense joy and a sense of purpose to me. A Commitment Enduring the Test of Time: Marriage is….an ADVENTURE!  I am proud to say that I have been married for over 30 years. My husband is a local architect and home builder.  Together, we have built a strong foundation of trust, laughter (lots of laughter), and shared experiences. Our commitment to each other has weathered the storms of life and I can’t wait for the next 30 years! 

Roots in Austin, Texas: For more than 30 years, the Austin area and specifically the last 25+ years, we’ve called Georgetown home. It’s where I have built lasting friendships, made cherished memories, and felt a deep connection to the community. The historic downtown square of Georgetown and the historic homes speak to my heart! 

A Proud West Texan: Born in Abilene, Texas, the endless expanses of West Texas instilled in me a deep appreciation for the beauty of the land. I love some Mesquite trees but I could live without the dust and droughts. 🙂 The best sunsets around, open skies, and the sense of tight-knit community have shaped my values and influenced my outlook on life.

Texas Tech University and Lifelong Learning: Education has always been a cornerstone of my personal growth and development. I am a proud graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. That’s where I met my husband!  We are huge Red Raider fans and go back to visit the beautiful campus any chance we get.  

Gardening and the Beauty of Nature: I discovered gardening back in Lubbock when I grew tulips from bulbs! It became a cherished hobby of mine, allowing me to connect with the earth, nurture life, and witness the beauty of growth. Whether it's tending to vibrant flowers or simply enjoying the peacefulness of nature, gardening rejuvenates me.

The Wanderlust Spirit: I dream of traveling. I’ve seen canyons, the Trevi Fountain, whales off the coast of Gloucester, and sea turtles in Hawaii.  I have been fortunate to take wonderful adventures with my husband and daughter that enriched my life and created lifelong memories. Whether it's traversing bustling European streets or visiting a National Park in the United States, the thrill of adventure fuels my spirit.

As I conclude this introduction, I hope that my story has sparked a sense of compassion, commitment, and a thirst for life within you. From my volunteer work at the dog rescue to my enduring marriage, my deep roots in Austin, Texas, and my love for gardening and travel, each facet of my life has shaped me into the person I am today. It is my belief that by embracing our passions, nurturing our relationships, and exploring the world around us, we can create a life filled with purpose, joy, and meaningful connections.
